New square near the Colonnades
In 2023, a new square was established on the Old Boulevard, in the vicinity of the Colonnades. The landscaping and construction work covered an area of approximately 2,000 square meters. The project included the construction of walking paths and curbs, the laying of decorative ornamental sand surfacing, and the installation of outdoor lighting. Additionally, outdoor furniture, including wooden benches and bench swings, was installed. The pedestals for the existing busts of Ukrainian public figures Taras Shevchenko and Lesya Ukrainka underwent major reconstruction and were clad in marble tiles. Furthermore, various types of ornamental trees and plants were planted. The work was carried out by the tender-winning contractor. This new recreational space has significantly enhanced the appearance of the area and created an additional attraction for visitors. The project was developed in accordance with a landscaping plan and authorized by the LEPL Cultural Heritage Preservation Agency of Adjara. A tender for the development of a square near the Colonnades on Batumi Boulevard was announced on August 31, 2023. The cost of the completed work amounted to 116,190.98 GEL, and the company that carried out the work was Roda LLC.
