Fully adapted beach on Batumi Boulevard

On August 9, within the framework of social responsibility, the most important project of the year - the Adapted Beach opening ceremony was held on the Boulevard.

For the tourist season, one location on the Batumi Boulevard has been fully adapted and the beach infrastructure has been adapted to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

For the first time this year, people with disabilities will be able to enter the sea independently. Batumi Boulevard has taken care in purchasing of five floating beach wheelchairs for the people using wheelchair. Adapted trails, showers and changing facilities as well as adapted public toilets were arranged on the beach. The modern multi-functional adaptive toilet is equipped with ultra-modern self-cleaning technologies, which features a antibacterial baby replacement corner and an anti-vandal equipment.

This project was implemented for the first time in Georgia, which aims at developing inclusive tourism and increasing equal accessibility for persons with disabilities. The main message of the event was #theseaisforeveryone. The opening of the fully adapted beach along with Batumi Boulevard leadership was also attended by other officials.

 

 

Terms of use for floating beach wheelchairs

 

For those who is interested in adapted beach, LEPL Batumi Boulevard is provided an information board on the beach, which outlines the safety rules and prohibitions for the operation of floating beach wheelchairs.

To protect the safety of persons with disabilities:

♿️Those wishing to enter the sea on floating beach wheelchair should first of all consider what the weather is like at the seaside.

The French company, which is developing  floating beach wheelchairs, strongly warns about the prohibition of bathing in stormy waves and strong currents.

♿️Swimming is forbidden without life vests!

♿️ Swimming is also forbidden without guided assistance!

♿️ It is prohibited to tie additional equipment on the floating  beach wheelchair .

♿️ Small children are not allowed to use floating beach wheelchair!

 

Since floating beach wheelchairs are expensive and specific equipment, to prevent damage or vandalism, in bad weather and in the evening, Batumi Boulevard reserves the right to move them to protected places.
